St. Francis School students showed off the 33 bags of gifts they are donating to the United Native Friendship Centre here for children this Christmas. Students were asked to bring in donations of toys, books, and games—and clearly they answered the call during this season of giving.

Five-year-old Brynna Strain shared her Christmas list with Santa on Sunday during an “Old Fashion Christmas Party” hosted by library staff and the Friends of the Fort Frances Public Library. The event also featured stories, Christmas carols, goodies, and crafts.
Jana Riches, left, and Christy Herr of the Northwestern Health Unit were stationed at the local LCBO yesterday to promote Canada’s low-risk alcohol drinking guidelines. Customers were encouraged to test their knowledge of the guidelines by trying to pour one serving of either pretend beer, wine, or a shot of Tequila. According to the guidelines, “a drink” means 12 oz.

Danielle Bois was busy in the St. Mary’s Church kitchen Saturday rolling cinnamon buns in preparation for a fundraiser held at the parish over the weekend. The St. Mary’s Youth Group made 64 dozen sticky buns, with funds raised going towards a trip to Poland for World Youth Day in 2016.

The company transformed the location, as well as areas of town, for the online video, which is an extension of its “Warm Wishes” campaign.
A crew was spotted hoisting several new commercial boilers onto the roof of the paper machine building yesterday morning. A Resolute spokesperson still was confirming details but it is believed the new equipment has to do with the company’s plan to heat critical parts of the mill through the winter.
