It is with great sorrow that the family of Rhoda Archie announces her passing on Wednesday, August. 1, 2018 at Big Grassy First Nation.
Rhoda was born on April 24, 1975 to Albert and Barbara Wilson-Hawk. She was raised in Big Grassy First Nation, spending her childhood with her grandparents, Robert Archie and Rose Marie Copenace.
Rhoda was a residential school survivor. She loved attending pow-wows, listening to the drums, and watching the dancers (she was particularly fond of the traditional dancers).
She had been working as an education assistant and had a special place in her heart for her “kids.” Rhoda also loved to listen to music, dance, and spend time with her family.
She leaves behind her husband, Myron; children, Aaliyah, Kendall, and Emily Medicine; mother, Barbara; siblings, Robin, Albert, Jeff (LeeAnna), Robert, and Dailen; grandfather, Robert Archie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Rhoda was predeceased by her father, Albert; grandmother, Rose Marie Copenace; aunt, Sheila Wilson; and baby, Myron Gerald Medicine Jr.
A traditional wake was held on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018 at noon at the Big Grassy First Nation Community Centre.
A traditional funeral service followed on Monday, Aug. 6, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Big Grassy First Nation Community Centre.
Interment took place at Big Grassy First Nation.
The pallbearers were Shawn Medicine, John Copenace, Fred Copenace, Darryl Medicine, Conan Medicine, and Terrence Medicine.
