Graveside services for Christine May Smythe, 85, of Norman were held Friday, Oct. 3, 2008 at noon at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Okla.
Mrs. Smythe passed away Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
She was born May 17, 1923 to Roy Douglas and Jane Ann Gillon in Fort Frances, Ont., where she grew up. Christine served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II.
She married her husband, Carl Lee Smythe, in 1946 and they were married for nearly 60 years.
She is survived by her son, Douglas Smythe and his wife, Patricia, of Tulsa; daughter, Jane Kuehnert and her husband, John, of Norman; sister-in-law, Iza Gillon; two grandchildren, Christopher Kuehnert and Rachel Dalthorp and her husband, Bo, of Oklahoma City; four great-grandchildren, Darby Kuehnert, and Keegan, Collin, and Jack Dalthorp; and numerous extended family members.
Christine was predeceased by her husband, Carl Lee Smythe; her parents; and two brothers, Jim and Douglas Gillon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests in memoriam donations be made to the Susan G. Koman Foundation in her name or Flight of Mercy, Midian Shrine in Wichita, Kan.
