Allen Aubrey Zubko passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009 with his family by his side.
Al was born on Saturday, May 26, 1934 in Stenen, Sask.
Al worked for the Canadian government for 36 years, retiring in 1992 from the Sault Ste. Marie office.
Al moved to Blind River, Ont. thereafter at the cottage on Thirston (Bass) Lake that he kept in immaculate condition.
Al then moved to Fort Frances, Ont. in 2003 and stayed with his daughter and son-in-law until his passing.
Throughout his entire life, Al was an avid sports person. He enjoyed curling, baseball, horseshoes, crib, chess, and crossword puzzles and had a passion for golf, where he made numerous friends.
He most enjoyed golfing with his family and friends, along with seniors’ day at Kitchen Creek with his new buddies.
Family was the joy of his life. We are proud of the strengths and values that Al has instilled in his family. He has left a legacy of loving memories with everyone he has touched throughout his lifetime.
Al was predeceased by his parents, William and Anna Zubko.
Al will be deeply missed by his children, son, Terry Anthony, son, Christopher and JoAnn of Wetaskiwin, Alta., daughter, Alana and Blake Cawston of Fort Frances, Ont., and daughter, Deborah Anne and Fred Foreman of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.; grandchildren, Laurence, Sarah, and Ellysha (Ryan Steeves); and great-granddaughter, Chelsey.
Also surviving are his brother, Ken Zubko of Birch River, Man.; sister, Sonia and Harry Grimme of Toronto, Ont., and their children, Tracy, Mark, and Rob (Liesa) whom all thought the world of him.
There will be a gathering for friends and family at his residence (1675 Frog Creek Rd.) on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009 at 2 p.m. to celebrate Al’s life.

The honourary pallbearers will be Don Lees, Ken Haggart Jr., Earl Bell, Dan Williamson, Dan Parfitt, Ken Bekesi, and Rob Grimme.
