ALICE VIOLET HORLEY

Alice Violet Horley, 96, of Edmonton, Alta., passed away Sunday, March 26, 2000.
She was born in England on Oct. 22, 1903. The family came to Canada in 1905 and resided in Hamilton until 1919, then moved to Rainy River District.
She married Francis Harold Horley on Sept. 12, 1923 and they lived in that part of Ontario until 1980, at which time they moved to Edmonton to be closer to their family.
Violet is survived by her loving family, her son, Jack and daughter-in-law, Nettie; grandsons, Garry (Janis) Horley and Randy (Barbara) Horley, all of Quesnel, B.C.; and five great-grandchildren.
She also will be missed by her sister-in-law, Edna Clarke in Ontario; numerous nieces and nephews in Ontario, B.C., and Alterta; and by her very special long-time friend, Mary Geyer of Edmonton.
Violet was predeceased by her husband, Harold, in 1984; by her brother, Ted; and two infant daughters.
A memorial service was held Thursday, March 30, 2000 at 1 p.m. at Laurier Heights Baptist Church (Fireside Room) in Edmonton. Dr. David Spate officiated.
Cremation has taken place, and a graveside service will be held at the family plot in Fort Frances, Ont. at a later date.
