Senior spikers ousted from playoffs

Heading into the NorWOSSA playoffs last week, it appeared the previously undefeated Dryden Eagles would be the team to beat.

But the Kenora Broncos were the best team when it counted, vaulting themselves into the NWOSSAA playoffs against the Thunder Bay champs after sweeping the Muskies and Eagles last Thursday in Dryden.

Emo pucksters had strong week

Emo snipers scored at will in minor hockey action during the past week, winning four games while losing just one and tying another.

In Novice action, the Emo Wings skated all over visiting Rainy River 6-2 on goals by Richard Wieringa (two), Nathan DeBungie, Ryan Witherspoon, Maverick Judson, and Brock Benjamin.

Kuzyk and Ashworth replied for the visitors.

Senior hoopsters hand Kenora first loss

Trailing 75-71 with just over a minute to play to the first place Kenora Broncos, and with their shooting suddenly going cold, the Muskies looked well on their way to suffering their fifth loss of the season here yesterday.

But the black-and-gold regained their scoring touch down the stretch, getting a three-pointer from Bryce Coyle to pull within one with 1:11 on the clock.
