Track Muskies qualify for OFSAA


The Muskie track-and-field team shone brightly at the NWOSAA championships held in Thunder Bay on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Fort High will be sending eight athletes to the OFSAA championships, which are slated for June 6-8 at Guelph University.

Among the girls, Alacea Yerxa qualified by nabbing silver in the senior 800m race (3:13.18) and bronze in the 1500m one (6:44.21).

Tori Toriseva, meanwhile, took gold in the 1500m (5:59.90) while Emma Bone was golden in the Midget girls' javelin throw (16.31m).

The girls' open 4x400m relay squad of Ayiana Gagne, Kenna Spuzak, Grace Petsnick, and Cassie Krawchuk nabbed gold with a time of 4:49.27.

Sean Huziak was the lone male Muskie to qualify for OFSAA, snaring gold in the senior discus (34.56m).

As a team, the Muskies finished third in the senior division, fifth in the Midget division, and seventh in the junior one.
