The Fort Frances Tennis Club hosted an impromptu men's doubles tournament on Saturday at the Multi-Use Tennis Courts here.

A total of four teams played a round robin doubles format, with the first to reach eight games winning the set.

Taking first place were Al Cesuinas (Dryden) and Al Christiansen (Fort Frances) while the runners-up were Allan Albao and Clint Barton (both of the Fort).

Third-place honours went to Lloyd Sexton and Ted Kenny (both of the Fort) while Ed Woods (Ranier, Mn.) and Humberto Pacheko (Dryden) were last.

All of the competitors played hard and had fun. It also was a cool morning, but the weather cooperated.

Thanks to the participants, $55 was raised for the tennis club's junior program.
