The weather certainly co-operated for the annual Kingsley Downs/Gus Lindberg Memorial slo-pitch tournament held over the weekend at the Devlin Ball Park.
Charlie's Angels went home with the honour of winning the A-side title by defeating the Brew Jays 17-4 in the final Sunday.
Paul's Balls downed Shade 17-14 in the 'B' final while the River Rats cruised past the Village People 19-4 in the 'C' final.
The most sportsmanship team award was presented to the Brew Jays.
A special thank you to Adam Esselink, who worked tirelessly for the good of the Devlin slo-pitch league. He organized the volunteers and devoted countless hours to the tournament.
This is much appreciated by the tournament organizers, Adam!
Thanks also to Cindy Kellar, who always does a grand job behind the bar, and to Rick Tymkin, whose umpiring is on par with the standards set by both Kingsley Downs and Gus Lindberg.
A big thank you to Tompkins Hardware for the use of the four-wheeler to drag the diamond between games. Also to Roger Allan for the use of his cooler trailer, and to Bill and Nell Godin of Lake Despair Lodge for lending the deep fryer.
And thanks to all the volunteers who helped in any way!
Good luck to all the local anglers fishing the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship this Thursday through Saturday (July 20-22).
I must say I'm keeping fingers crossed for the father-son duo of Ralph and Scott Galusha, who are fishing the FFCBC as a team for the first time.
Don't forget the Nevin Bonot Memorial golf tournament will be held this Saturday (July 22).
Call the Emo Legion to sign up.
I'm happy to say my sister, Nancy Galusha, is here visiting for the week.
