Yenta Davidson apparently was just biding her time offensively.
Having not scored all season, she exploded for a hat trick to lead the Wright Physiotherapy Rockettes to a 5-0 shutout over the La Place Rendez-Vous Rage last night in Borderland Women’s Indoor Soccer League action at Fort High.
It was a showdown to decide first place on the final night of the regular season.
Jenny Pagnotta also struck for her first goal of the season for the Rockettes (8-2), who slipped ahead of the Rage (7-2-1) in the standings in a likely championship game preview.
Maggie Jean clinched the Golden Boot Award as the league’s top sniper by recording her 18th goal.
The Rage were missing several regulars, and will ride substitute keeper Wendy Kellar the rest of the way with starting goalie Amy Wilson-Hands out due to injury.
Meanwhile, it was a walkover for third-place Fine Foods Fury (5-5) to get to .500 as they picked up a forfeit win over the last-place Shear Serenity Strykers (1-8-1) last night.
Shear Serenity will look to upset the Rockettes in one semi-final next Wednesday (April 20).
The other semi-final will pit the Rage against Fine Foods.
The two winners then will battle it out for the league title April 27 while the losers will meet in the third-place game.
