The basketball magic still was working but the volleyball illusionists ran out of tricks in NorWOSSA action Tuesday in Dryden.
The Muskie boys’ basketball squads held up their end of the bargain, beginning with the junior boys’ 70-27 rout of the host Eagles.
Aaron Bujold once again had a game-high 30 points for Fort High (2-0) while Sekina Scheibler added 16.
“The guys are communicating well and supporting each other, and there’s a real sense of team right now,” said Muskie coach Darryl Galusha.
The senior boys had to break much more of a sweat, but held Dryden to just five points in the fourth quarter en route to a 54-45 victory.
Jacob Empey led the Muskies (2-0) with 15 points while Ian Jodoin and Kevin Metke netted eight apiece.
But it was a different story on the basketball courts.
In junior girls’ play, the Muskies (1-1) fell 3-1 to the Eagles by set scores of 22-25, 29-27, 25-19, and 25-22.
The senior Muskies (1-1) didn’t even make it that far—getting swept 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, and 25-14).
All four teams don’t resume NorWOSSA action until Jan. 5 when they host those same Eagles.
