Local riders shine in opener


Local riders shone the brightest at the Superior Dirt Riders' season-opening races held in Atikokan back on June 1.

Landon Flinders of Fort Frances roared his way to first place in the 85cc age 7-11 category.

Alex Kreger of Emo nabbed third spot followed by Ozzy Hanson of Fort Frances in fourth and Kali Tessier of Devlin fifth.

Tessier also placed ninth in the 65cc PeeWee age 7-11 category.

Flinders then wound up sixth in the Super Mini division, followed by Blake Kreger of Emo in eighth and Dawson Pollard of the Fort in ninth.

Dylan Tessier of Devlin nabbed second place in the MX3 Beginner class while Cooper Lavigne of International Falls was ninth.

Pollard wound up fourth in the 85cc age 12-16 category while Alex Kreger was seventh and Blake Kreger was eighth.

Other local finishes included John Gavel of Stratton wound up 10th in the MX3 Junior class while also placing sixth in the Vet 40+ division.

Trevor Croswell of Emo, meanwhile, was fourth in the Vet 40+ race.

In the Schoolboy division, Brandon Croswell had the top local finish as he wound up fourth.

He was followed by Dylan Tessier in fifth and Cole Kreger (Emo) in seventh while Lavigne was ninth.

Cole Kreger finished 11th in the MX3 Open class, followed by Brandon Croswell in 13th, Trevor Croswell in 14th, and Gavel in 20th.

Up next for the Superior Dirt Riders is a doubleheader race weekend slated for June 22-23 at the Emo Motocross course.
