Legal Eagles come up short

The Fort Frances Calder Legal Eagles couldn’t quite find an effective flight path.

The local Atom ‘AA’ girls’ hockey team went 0-3-1 at a tournament in Thunder Bay over the weekend.

The Eagles opened play with a 4-2 loss to the Thunder Bay Fury, with Eva Gerstner and Kassidy Gurniak getting the goals.

Hailey “Hollywood Jr.” Bombay, Piper Miller, and Julia Guertin then scored in a 5-3 loss to the Kenora Canucks.

The Eagles battled the Kenora DSA Snipers to a 2-2 tie in their third game.

Kiera Fairnington and Gerstner were the goal scorers.

The Eagles got one more crack at the Fury to wrap up the weekend but fell by a 3-1 count.

Fairnington had the lone goal.

Some of the Eagles pulled double duty this past week, helping the Fort Frances AtoMC Icebergs blank the Emo Express 7-0 on Monday.

Tia Walton led the way with a hat trick while Guertin notched a pair.

Bombay and Gerstner added singles.

Maddie Bliss recorded the shutout.
