Setting goals is important.
Aaron Bujold makes reaching those goals look easy.
The Grade 10 member of the Muskie badminton team claimed his second-straight senior boys’ singles title at the NorWOSSA finals Wednesday in Atikokan.
“My goal was to go undefeated,” said Bujold, who went 4-0 to earn the crown against a field of players all older than him.
“That’s what I wanted to do and I did it,” added Bujold, who still could be playing in the junior boys’ division but prefers the tougher competition.
He now advances to the NWOSSAA finals this coming Wednesday in Dryden, where he’ll look to improve on his silver medal from last year.
But Bujold will settle for another top-two finish so he can qualify once again for the OFSAA championships, set for May 5-7 in North Bay.
Jacob Jack, the only other Muskie at the NorWOSSA finals, was Bujold’s first victim.
He wound up in fourth place in the five-player field with a 1-3 record to end his return to the high school badminton ranks after a four-year hiatus.
