Rylee Redford of the Fort Frances Angels admired her third-inning blast that went for a triple and led to scoring the first run of the game for her team. It was not nearly enough, though, as the fifth-ranked Couchiching Lady Raiders ousted the 11th-seeded Angels from the Rainy River District Women’s Fastball League playoffs with a 15-2 triumph yesterday evening at the Rodrick and Telford Bruyere Ball Field. In other loser’s bracket games, the top-seeded Fort Frances Her-icanes advanced by forfeit over the 10th-ranked Big Island Wildcats, the third-seeded Northwest Bay Beavers thumped the No. 12-ranked Manitou T-Birdies 29-13, and the ninth-ranked Sabaskong Tebinaak upset the seventh-seeded Dawson Tigers 10-8. The playoffs resume Wednesday, with the league taking Monday off because of the civic holiday.
