Teacher rally

Photo Album:

Members of OSSTF District 5B saw support from other unions, such as CUPE and ETFO, as well as retired teachers and their provincial executive, during the rally it held Tuesday night outside the Rainy River District School Board office. Local OSSTF president Kent Kowalski said they were standing up to protect the seniority rights of all union members and wanted an opportunity for the public to learn about the issues. No further contract talks with the board have been scheduled at this time. In the meantime, the teachers are continuing with their one-day-a-week strike action and also won’t be participating in high school graduations.
