On strike

Photo Album:

Local CN conductors, with the support of some of their engineer co-workers, picketed at Central Avenue on Monday afternoon. About 2,300 United Transportation Union members across Canada walked off the job as of midnight Saturday after contract talks between the union and CN broke down Friday. The strike likely will continue through the weekend after a Canada Industrial Relations Board hearing on the legality of the walkout was put off until Monday. About 20 district CN workers are affected by the strike. —Duane Hicks photo
