Tom Marinis of the Ministry of Transportation, left, and elder Richard Bird tried out the new crosswalk at Couchiching during an official launch there yesterday. The crosswalk—the first in Northwestern Ontario that’s on the Trans-Canada Highway—will allow pedestrians to cross Highway 11 safely. An educational campaign is underway to inform drivers that they need to be prepared to stop there.
