Franklin exhibit

Photo Album:

Fort Frances Museum summer students Naomi McManaman, left, and Alyssa Armstrong posed with a replica of the headstone of able seaman John Hartnell for the grand opening of “Echoes in the Ice: Finding Franklin's Ship" yesterday. Hartnell was one of three crew members of the Franklin Expedition who died early on and were buried on Beechey Island before the expedition and its crew was lost. "Echoes in the Ice” provides visitors with the chance to learn about the ill-fated expedition to find the Northwest Passage, its rediscovery, as well as the challenges of exploring Canada's arctic both in the time of Sir John Franklin and today. The exhibit will run from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily on the museum's main floor until Sept. 22.
