Drinking guidelines

Photo Album:

Jana Riches, left, and Christy Herr of the Northwestern Health Unit were stationed at the local LCBO yesterday to promote Canada’s low-risk alcohol drinking guidelines. Customers were encouraged to test their knowledge of the guidelines by trying to pour one serving of either pretend beer, wine, or a shot of Tequila. According to the guidelines, “a drink” means 12 oz. of beer (five percent alcohol content), five oz. of wine (12 percent alcohol content), and 1.5 oz. of a shot (40 percent distilled alcohol content.). Riches and Herr were hoping to teach people to know their limits and to drink responsibly over the holiday season.
