Cochrane sculpture

Photo Album:

A wooden sculpture of a tree is on display at the Fort Frances Library Technology Centre as part of its initiative to promote the works of local artists. The piece is one of an array of creations by artist Cassandra Cochrane, who is from Rainy River First Nations and currently is attending the University of Manitoba for a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Cochrane said the sculpture doesn't have much meaning behind it, except for it is one of her favourite projects from wood shop, a class she also enjoyed. Many of the youths who have visited the library and have seen the sculpture have commented on how much they like it because it looks like a creation from the popular game “Minecraft.” Cochrane's artwork will be on display until the week of Aug. 20.
