Closing feast

Photo Album:

Jacqueline Daniels, left, a councillor of Long Plain First Nations, and Karen Innes, a councillor of the Opaskwayak Cree Nation (both in Manitoba), enjoyed the fish feast that marked the closing of the National Indian Treaties 1-11 Gathering. It began last Tuesday (Aug. 5) and ran through to Friday under the tent at Pither’s Point, with discussions on sovereignty, treaty law, and land claims (especially with regards to Pither’s Point) highlighting the program.
