The Rainycrest residents' dinner was once again held at La Place Rendez-Vous by the Rainycrest Auxiliary last Tuesday.
A total of 38 residents came out with assistance by Rainycrest staff and auxiliary members.
Attendees of the dinner were able to order from a prepared menu of walleye, chicken, or pork cutlets.
In talking with each Rainycrest resident during the dinner, the auxiliary was told by everyone that they enjoyed their meal.
“The best part of the evening is the opportunity to enjoy an outing on the waterfront,” noted Mayor June Caul, who's also auxiliary president.
Residents who were unable to walk were bussed by handi-vans and those were able to walk with assistance were transported in school busses to the dinner.
To accomplish transportation to and from the restaurant, auxiliary members used their personal trucks to haul wheelchairs and walkers.
The Rainycrest Auxiliary also hosted a dinner outing in June where approximately 50 residents participated.
The reward for hosting the event is seeing the smiles and hearing the genuine “thank yous” from the residents, according to Mayor Caul, who attended the dinner.
“What a joy it is to spend time with our seniors, especially those who are in Rainycrest,” Mayor Caul enthused.
Meanwhile, Rainycrest auxiliary membership fees for 2020 are due.
