There are a host of presentations and reports to be made at tonight’s town council meeting.
Following verbal updates that will be provided by Mayor June Caul and Councillors Michael Behan, Wendy Brunetta and Andrew Hallikas, council will consider a report that recommends the implementation of a Capital Asset Registry Policy. The purpose of the policy is to outline how the town will keep an accurate and up-to-date capital asset registry, which currently sits at more than 9000 individual assets. The registry will also ensure that all assets are being updated and maintained throughout their useful life, and make it easier for separate town divisions to communicate essential information about assets as they are acquired or retired.
Another item on tonight’s agenda is a presentation to council of the Draft 2019 Audited Financial Statement from BDO Canada LLP. The town’s financial statements are audited each year and consists of balance sheets and related consolidated statements of income, equity and cash flows for a fiscal year.
There will also be a presentation from Widlake Properties Inc. regarding senior housing in Fort Frances. According to their website, Widlake Properties Inc. is “a private not for profit, volunteer, community based entity.” They are currently in the process of accepting residents to a 95-unit affordable housing complex in the Transcona area of Winnipeg.
Tonight’s regular council meeting will follow the committee of the whole meeting, which gets underway at 5:30 p.m. Go to the town’s website for a link to the Microsoft Teams meeting.

The fourth item is in regards to Labour relations or employee negotiations: CUPE Pay Equity Update
The final in-camera item is in regards to A proposed or pending acquisition or disposition of land by the municipality or local board: Surplus Property Update
