The La Verendrye Hospital Auxiliary's executive meeting was held on Dec. 2 with 11 members present and one guest. Linda Booth presided.
Come one. come all! The gift shop is geared up for the holiday season.
Come on in and see what we have to offer. There is a multitude of new inventory. Christmas crafts and decorations, as well as things for the baby, knitted hats, mitts, slippers, books, and puzzles.
We have two “Pop-Up Shops” for the month of December: Hooterville Honey which is a local treat and is selling like hot cakes; and Bea-u-ti-ful Creations by Carrie Shypit, which features lovely flower arrangements as well as Christmas decorations.
Just a reminder that a portion of everything that is sold in the “Pop-Up Shops” is donated back to the auxiliary.
It is well worth your time and effort to drop around to the hospital to have a look, and make a purchase.
The shop is open 12:30-3:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
The Christmas lobby sale held on November 29 was deemed a success. It featured baking as well as crafts which were up for grabs along with new merchandise in the shop. The baking table sold out and the shop was busy.
Two vendors ran “Pop-Up Shops” for the day and business was brisk. They were Carolyn Mount of Natural Born Weaver and Kris Krag of Once Upon A Spoon.
The members would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers who helped out on Thursday to set up and Friday to work: Marnie Cumming, Bev Bond, Sandra Robertson, Judy Webster, Lenore Cates, Grace Angus, Helene Cone, Delores Fraser, Donna Handberg, and Brenda Cox.
A huge round of applause and a thank you to all those members who donated baking and crafts to the event.
It was a success but only because of your generosity which is appreciated. It could not be done without you!
The “Stuffed Stocking” door prize was won by Carol Spuzak. Congratulations, Carol!
Plans are in the works for a Valentine's lobby sale to be held Feb. 14 in conjunction with Staff Appreciation Coffee Break. Mark your calenders for this event. More to come later.
Lenore Cates has accepted the publicity position for the newspaper articles.
The tickets for the 50/50 draw have sold out. Good luck to all who purchased tickets. The draw is to be made at the luncheon on Dec. 9.
The members were approached by the patient bed co-ordinator for kits to made up to give to the patients in palliative care and their loved ones who may be sitting with them to pass the time. The request was approved.
Since Nov. 3, 15 baby kits have been given out.
The auxiliary is still in need of volunteers to fill the vending machines on a back-up basis.
Anyone with a few spare minutes may like to volunteer. The machines require filling twice a week so you may want to volunteer for an hour even once a week would be a great help.
The positions of president and vice-president are still vacant.
There is also a need for a full-time shop manager.
At this time, the members would like to express our gratitude to Pharmasave and Northwoods Gallery and Gifts for their generous support. Thank you.
The next executive meeting will be held on Feb. 3, 2020.
Happy holidays! All the best for 2020!
