Compromise is a necessary tool to be used wisely in many aspects of our lives.
In marriage between a husband and wife, to be successful, there must be willing compromises practiced by both parties.
Also in the workplace, with siblings, with friends, with relatives and families, compromised can be good.
However, there is an area where we must be careful not to compromise, and that is the word of God.
The Bible is God's instruction (rule) book for us and it tells us of a loving, patient, forgiving and uncompromising God.
It is a book of unchanging truths. We find ourselves in society today in a place where we've embraced variations of the truth, ones that seem good and convenient in place of actual truth—the word of God. Truths that haven't changed for 2,000 years.
You can't play hockey with baseball rules, you can't play football with basketball rules. In the same way, you can't walk through life as a Christian following society's rules when they are in direct contradiction of God's word.
We believe in the sovereignty of God but have compromised out responsibility to believe and obey His written word.
Compromise is a contagious disease, spiritually speaking, that will lead us away from the heart of God.
My hope is that as you read this letter, you will be encouraged to find out for yourself what the word of God says.
The Bible is not a complicated book but it intended to help guide a person through life with a heavenly reward at life's end.
Romans 12: 2 states: “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. (God's word). Then you will be able to test and approve of what God's will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Also in Romans 10: 9-10, which I believe to be the most important verses in the Bible, it states: “That if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe we are justified, and it is with your mouth you confess and are saved.”
The results are out of this world.
