EASTER... a pleasant diversion amid the doom and gloom of the pandemic statistics!
Easter...there it is on our calendars. It's still being commemorated/ celebrated after 2000 years! Is it merely the chocolate bunnies, eggs, flowers, and dinners that keep the holiday around? These are merely the symbols our society has attached to Easter.
The undeniable fact that created Easter is the historic life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He, whose birth we celebrate at Christmastime, was unjustly sentenced and nailed to a cruel cross (Good Friday), but rose triumphantly from the dead days later. This is the miracle of God's love, for it gives HOPE beyond death and the grave for all who believe. Hope for this life and the next. Profound!
So, amid the fears, frustrations, and limitations of the pandemic, let's embrace the Hope of Easter. Let's look to the One who said: “In me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” John 16:33.
