What if?

Dear Mike:

I feel I have to write this letter because the incident that occurred this past week bothered me so much.

I was on my way home from the west end of town last Wednesday morning after dropping my daughter off at St. Francis School. I turned onto King’s Highway in front of the Adventure Inn and was headed east.

Shortly after making the turn, and with traffic stopped at the light headed west (about six cars), I encountered the ambulance (I presume headed for the high school to the emergency with the pepper spray).

I had nowhere to go! I had two ambulance attendants signalling me to the opposite lane, which turned out to be okay, but had circumstances been different, the ambulance would have been caught up in the traffic.

My irritation comes with this question: does our ambulance service not have an alternative plan for use on King’s Highway during this construction period? Perhaps Fourth Street West or the block that runs directly in front of The Place and the Adventure Inn could be used?

This situation really bothers me because it could have turned out so differently with the ambulance being caught in a traffic jam due to the construction.

Fortunately, all turned out well, but what if?
