Stranded boaters safe

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located boaters in distress on Shoal Lake.

On Monday August 31, 2020, at 2:42 a.m. the OPP were dispatched to a marine call. Police were advised that a 37 year old man with a 7 year old child were stranded on a pile of rocks with the waves getting larger.

Police attended the area and were able to locate the two who were transported back to their camp after being wrapped with warm jackets.

With fall approaching the Kenora OPP would like to remind people who are heading out onto the water to always be prepared. With temperatures dipping down, a dry bag with warm clothes, food and a water proof fire starter could save your life.

Always let people know where you are going, and make sure all required boater safety equipment is on board prior to departing.
