Seine River death being probed


On Feb. 3, the Treaty #3 Police Service requested assistance from the OPP's North West Region Crime Unit regarding an aggravated assault investigation in Seine River First Nation.

The victim, a 42-year-old male identified as Rudy Whitecrow of Seine River First Nation, was transported to Thunder Bay for medical assistance, where he succumbed to his injuries on Feb. 5.

As a result, officers with the Treaty #3 Police Service, the OPP's North West Region Crime Unit, and Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of Det. Insp. Darryl Sigouin of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, are investigating the circumstances surrounding this death.

The post-mortem will take place Feb. 8 at the Office of the Chief Coroner and Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto.
