Riverside and Emo Feeds team up for Christmas café

Category:

Riverside Health Care is partnering with Emo Feeds to provide sweet treats and hot beverages for their Christmas café and bake sale.

The event will take place from Dec 3-5. The bake sale will be open in the evenings from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m-1 p.m.

The pop-up ‘little Christmas café and bake sale’ is running over the course of three days to spread out the flow of traffic.

The bake sale will be held in the upstairs portion of Emo Feeds where the large space will be transformed to allow customers to socially distance while shopping for fresh baked goods or while enjoying a cup of coffee and a sweet treat.

Simone LeBlanc, director for support services at Riverside Health Care, said in an email the event is to kick off the cafeteria’s new name and an opportunity to highlight a few items available at the newly named Riverside's Riverfront Cafe & Bakery at the Emo Health Centre (EHC).

The Cafeteria was formally known as the Emo Hospital Cafeteria.

The bake sale will be a cash only event and will offer a variety of baked goods and lunch. Some items on the menu include fresh baked pies, frozen pies and single serving pies that range from $4 to $16.

They will also be selling tarts, half a dozen or individual cinnamon rolls, cookies, squares, muffins, mini loafs and Christmas pudding.
Lunch items will include wild rice soup, veggie boxes and salads ranging from $3 to $7.
If sweets are not up your alley, or you are not in the mood for lunch, the bake sale will also be serving hot beverages such as fresh ground coffee, chai tea, apple aider and hot chocolate with all the fixings.

With the new COVID-19 restrictions in place, LeBlanc said the event has been planned to meet all of the safety requirements.

Customers are required to wear masks, wash their hands regularly and socially distance from anyone outside of their household.

As well, infection control practices will be followed by having all baked goods individually wrapped and food areas and high touch surfaces regularly cleaned.

There will be tables set up indoors and outdoors with limited seating per table to allow enough space for proper social distancing.

LeBlanc adds that the event is also to put the word out that the cafeteria at the EHC is open to the public from 11 a.m-12:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. The café and bakery offers daily specials and fresh baked good.

LeBlanc said they are excited to be working with Emo feeds to give the community a taste of what Riverside's Riverfront Cafe & Bakery has to offer.
