One fire reported in region

One new fire was reported yesterday in the Northwest Region.

Dryden Fire #26 was a 0.1-hectare, lightning-caused blaze that’s smouldering on a steep ridge in the Hodgins Lake area about 25 km north-northeast of Dryden.

The forest fire hazard is “moderate” to “high.”

In related news, smoke drift may be present in the region as large fires in western Canada and the U.S. continue to burn aggressively.

Meanwhile, a number of personnel are returning from their deployment to the U.S., including FireRanger crews, agency representatives, a fire behaviour analyst, and a heavy equipment boss.

This will leave about 18 overhead staff in Idaho and 15 overhead staff in Montana.

There also are tanker packages in each of these states, totalling four CL-415 heavy waterbombers and two Birddog aircraft.

As well, Ontario continues to supply equipment to Alberta, B.C., and Saskatchewan.
