On Dec. 6, the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS) requested the assistance of the OPP regarding the deaths of two people in Cat Lake First Nation.
The investigation has confirmed the two were victims of homicide.
That same day, an 18-year-old Cat Lake First Nations male was arrested by NAPS.
On Dec. 7, he was charged with two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of uttering threats, and one count of assault.
The teen appeared in court in Kenora on Dec. 8 and was remanded into custody.
His next appearance was scheduled for this morning in Kenora.
The two victims were identified as Isaac Gray, 51, and Tyrese Shakakeesic, 18, both of Cat Lake First Nation.
The post-mortem examinations were carried out at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora on Dec. 8 and 9.
The homicide investigation continues under the direction of Det.-Insp. Darryl Sigouin of the OPP's Criminal Investigation Branch, with officers from NAPS and the OPP North West Region Crime Units.
