Motorist charged

A male driver was charged with impaired driving here yesterday around 12:50 p.m.

During a routine patrol, officers stopped a motor vehicle on the 200 block of Fifth Street East after observing a male driving who was known as being a suspended driver.

As officers were speaking with the driver, it was determined he had been drinking.

The 47-year-old Fort Frances man failed a roadside screen device and was taken to the OPP detachment for breath tests.

He subsequently was charged with having a blood alcohol level over .08 mg.

He also was charged with driving under suspension and driving while disqualified.

The vehicle was impounded for a minimum of seven days, and he was issued a mandatory driver’s licence suspension.

He was scheduled to appear court here today (Sept. 3).

The public can report an impaired driver by calling the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
