Fire hazard 'low' again

No new forest fires were reported in the Northwest Region between Friday and yesterday.

There currently are two active fires, located in the districts of Kenora and Sioux Lookout, along with two prescribed burns.

The fire hazard primarily is “low" in the Fort Frances, Dryden, and Kenora Districts, and "low to moderate” elsewhere in the region.

The Wind Lake prescribed burn in Sioux Lookout District was listed at “under control” at 183.0 hectares.

Meanwhile, the Sakwite Lake prescribed burn, which was ignited on Friday on Korpi Road in Fort Frances District, was “under control” at 168.4 ha.

For safety reasons, people are advised to stay away from these areas.

Hunters also are reminded to be aware of FireRangers and vehicles as they respond to forest fires.
