Riverside Health Care wants to advise our public, that due to respiratory cases seen in our community, to refrain from visiting our facilities if you are experiencing any influenza (flu) symptoms.
The flu is:
- Caused by the influenza virus;
- Severe aches and pains, headache and a fever often above 38.5 Celsius that lasts for two-four days;
- Extreme exhaustion and fatigue and weakness that can last two-three weeks; and
•Cough and chest discomfort that can be severe, with occasional stuffy nose and sore throat.
Influenza starts suddenly and will keep many normally healthy people away from regular activity for one or two weeks or more.
It can hospitalize people with other health issues and lead to serious illness in some elderly people and infants.
Remember that the best way to stop the spread of infectious disease is to wash your hands frequently.
Please use the hand sanitizers provided at the entrance when you enter and exit our facilities.
Ensure you are well if you are visiting our patients or residents.
