4-H club holds first meeting

The first meeting of the West Enders 4-H club took place at the Gerula residence in Rainy River.

It was called to order by leader Kim Desserre at 10:05 a.m. and then we all recited the 4-H pledge.

Next came roll call, which was “What is your reason for wanting to learn more about pizza?”

After everyone answered, we talked about the different roles in the 4-H club.

Then elections opened and nominations started for president.

Erika Gerula became president, with the other positions being filled by Caydence Lundgren (vice-president), Alanna and Christina Gerula (secretary #1), Morgan Desserre (secretary #2), and Avery Lundgren (secretary #3).

Alanna Gerula also is the youth leader.

Next we talked about our homework, which was “Member Expectations and Goals.”

After that, we used our phones, iPad, or iPod to complete the worksheet, “History of Pizza.”

Once we finished, we took up the answers and talked about what kind of pizzas we were going to make.

We worked in groups of two to complete the pizzas. We made pizza sauce, dough without yeast, Chicken Alfredo pizza, and a cornmeal pizza.

Then we looked at different types of pizza cutters and talked about which ones were better for using.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:11 p.m. by our president, Erika Gerula.

We then ate our pizzas and snacks, and also had a drink.
