The Fort Frances Lions will hold “Bass Tournament Bingo” on Thursday, July 18 starting at 6:30 p.m. under the big tent at the Sorting Gap Marina. The Lions also will be selling pull tabs throughout the bass tournament.
The “Nite-Hawk Band,” presented by the Fort Frances Lions Club, will play on Thursday, July 18 starting at 9 p.m. under the big tent at the Sorting Gap Marina. Admission is $10.

The Teddy Bear Picnic will take place on Friday, July 19 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Fort Frances Public Library. Cost is $5 per person; $2 hot dogs. Bouncy castles, “bear doctor” booth, craft and music tent, face painting, and live entertainer Adam Rosner.
The Spry Farm Petting Zoo will be at the Sorting Gap Marina from noon-4 p.m. on Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20.
“Fun-Tastic Inflatables” will be down at the Sorting Gap from noon-5 p.m. on Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20.
The annual “Quest for the Best” singing contest, presented by the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce, will be held Friday, July 19 under the big tent at the Sorting Gap Marina. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the first act taking the stage at 7:30. Tickets cost $15 each and are available at Northwoods Gallery and Gifts, Causeway Insurance, and NCDS, or at the door (if there’s any left).
The International Early Iron Car Club Show will run from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, July 20 along the riverfront.
A 3-on-3 basketball tournament, sponsored by Rainy Lake Family Dental, will take place on Saturday, July 20 from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. down at the waterfront.
A roast beef dinner by Tess’ Kitchen will be at the Sorting Gap Marina starting at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 20. Tickets are $16 and are available at Tess’ Kitchen or at the door.
Stock car racing action, featuring the “Mid-Season Shoot Out,” goes Saturday, July 20 at the Emo Speedway, with hot laps at 7 p.m. and the first heat at 7:30 (weather permitting). Admission is $12 for adults and $8 for students/seniors, with those nine and under being free.
JUNK FM, an ’80s-2000s cover band from Minneapolis, will play under the big tent at the Sorting Gap starting at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 20. Admission $10.
Vacation Bible School “Pioneer Days” will take place on July 22-26 from 6 6-7:30 p.m. each evening at Victory Baptist Church (across from the Alberton Township office). Free admission. Aimed at Grades 1-6. Learn Bible stories, play games, and have snacks.
Community Living Fort Frances and District will hold a polymer clay sculpting art open art studio on Monday, July 22 from 3-5:30 p.m. in the at Lions Park in Fort Frances. The workshop is free and open to all ages. All supplies also provided.
A “Festival of India,” presented by the Vedic Cultural Centre-Thunder Bay and Town of Fort Frances, will take place on Monday, July 22 from 6-9 p.m. at Rainy Lake Square. Music, dancing, and food. It is free to attend the event and witness the dancing performances, music, and art, but to try out the Indian cuisine, there is a fee of $30 per person and discounts are available for group ticket purchases. “Pop Up Play” will take place every Thursday until Aug. 22 between 10 a.m.-noon. This event, hosted by the Northwestern Health Unit, will be at a new location each week. Next Thursday (July 25) we will be at Lion’s Park. All ages are welcome. Come out and play!
“Avengers: Infinity War” will be screened on Thursday, July 25 from 9:30 p.m.-midnight at the Rainy Lake Square. Free movie. Bring your own chair and snacks.
A come and go tea and mini-flower show will be held on Saturday, July 27 from 1-3 p.m. at the Fort Frances Public Library to celebrate the Fort Frances Horticultural Society’s 50th anniversary.
“Rough Cut Pine” will perform at the Rainy Lake Square on Thursday, Aug. 1 from 6-8 p.m. Free concert. Bring a chair.
The Fort Frances Curling Club will hold a brief membership meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 6:30 p.m. upstairs at the curling club. Amendements to bylaws will be discussed, followed by a vote.
“Echoes in the Ice: Finding Franklin’s Ship,” the newest exhibit at the Fort Frances Museum, will run through Sept. 22. Admission fees apply: Adults $8, family $24, seniors/children six-12 $6.
Tea and scones are back every “Market Thursday” from July 4-Aug. 29. Come to the Fort Frances Museum from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (back elevator entrance will be open), with admission being $5. (Cost doesn’t include admission to exhibit.)
