The Fort Frances Choraliers will perform their Easter cantata, this year entitled “Hope Alive in Me,” on Sunday, May 5 at 3 p.m. at New Beginnings Fellowship here. The concert will be a fundraiser for a new sound system for the group. There will be a bake sale and free-will offerings will be accepted.
The Borderland Soccer League will hold a registration night on Tuesday, May 7 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Fort Frances High School, with the fee being $100 for the men’s league and $80 for the women’s league. “Rock ‘n Roll Literacy” with author Sigmund Brouwer is coming to the Fort Frances Public Library on Wednesday, May 8 at 6:30 p.m. Brouwer is sure to get kids pumped up about reading this summer with the new “Story Book Ninja Book Club.” Come on out to this fun, free event.
A “Community Conversation about Substance Abuse” will take place at La Place Rendez-Vous next Wednesday (May 8) from 6:30-8 p.m. It will feature a panel of experts from the OPP, Treaty #3 Police, Northwestern Health Unit, and Fort Frances Tribal Area Health Services. Weechi-it-te-win Family Services will hold a “Children’s Wellness BBQ” on Friday, May 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 601 Victoria Ave. The public is invited to have a free lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, beverages and cake. There will also be educational and prevention information on site.

A roast beef supper will be held on Wednesday, May 15 from 5-7 p.m. at St. John’s Anglican Church. Roast beef, mashed potatoes, veggies, salads, homemade pies, coffee, and tea. Cost is $15 for adults; $7 for children ages five-10; free for children under five. Everyone welcome.

The Lions Legacy Golf Tournament, presented by the Fort Frances Lions Club and the Fort Frances Voyageurs Lions Club, will be held on Saturday, June 22 starting at 10 a.m. at the Heron Landing (Couchiching). The cost is $100 each or $400/team, which includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, and supper. Entries limited to the first 36 paid teams, with the registration deadline being June 6.
