At the Wheels to Meals gathering at the Emo Legion last Thursday, Emo councillors were on hand to challenge the seniors to carpet bowling.
It was a humorous contest the first time around, Reeve Russ Fortier said. “We had a field day,” he noted, adding the seniors let them win just to be good sports.
But for this second challenge by council members Brenda Cooke, Reeve Fortier, Doug Hodge, and Harriett Sheloff, the seniors meant business, winning the first game 3-2.
Council came back strong in the second, winning 4-2, meaning it all came down to the rubber match, which wound up a tie.
In the end, everyone felt satisfied the tourney was even-steven, after which a delicious lunch of soup and sandwiches was served.
