One new fire reported

Category:

Despite the low fire hazard, recent rain and cooler temperatures across the West Fire Region there is still a risk of fire.

A FireRanger crew out of Thunder Bay District responded to a fire report yesterday and discovered the smouldering remains of an old shore lunch fire on an island on Shebandowan Lake that had been there for several days.

Thunder Bay fire #35 is now “out” at 0.1 hectares in size.

Meanwhile, approximately 570 fire personnel from Ontario are assisting with the fire suppression efforts in British Columbia. Ontario has also sent two CL415 water bombers and an array of forest fire suppression equipment to B.C.

Ontario continues to support the fires situation in B.C. with additional personnel and equipment. Today, the first exchange of Ontario fire staff will occur with 122 fire personnel traveling to British Columbia, and 122 returning to Ontario tomorrow.
