Planning for Canada Day in Barwick is well underway.
There will be the annual fastball tournament, consisting of eight teams, which will begin at 9 a.m.
Anyone interested in entering a team should contact George Oltshere at 487-2253 for more information.
Meanwhile, registration for the annual July 1 parade begins at 10 a.m. at the Chapple municipal office parking lot.
Anyone putting a vehicle or float in the parade should phone Gary Judson while kids registering for the children’s parade should contact the office at 487-2354.
There will be a draw prize of a bike and helmet donated by Barwick Service, and kiddies’ prizes donated by Barwick Village Restaurant (only children registered for the parade will be eligible for the prizes).
The parade, which also will include an appearance by the Emo Fair queen candidates, then will begin at noon from the municipal office.
There will be kids’ games and fun after the parade, with a canteen and refreshments being available all day.
There also will be a poster contest. For more information, call the municipal office.
Organizers of Barwick’s Canada Day celebrations would like to thank the sponsors, the volunteers, and everyone from across the district who continue to make this annual event such a success.
The recreation grounds upgrading is nearly completed, so come out and see the work being done by volunteers while celebrating Canada’s 142nd birthday.
