Atown (Mar 5)

The Fort Frances Volunteer Bureau is again offering Income Tax preparation for low income residents. They will begin accepting forms March 16 at the Volunteer Bureau at 140 Fourth St. West. They will be available Monday to Thursday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you have any questions please call the Bureau at 274-9555

Atown (Feb 27)

The Legion Ladies' Auxiliary will hold its next monthly supper—featuring roast beef—on Friday, Feb. 28 at 5:30 p.m. upstairs at the Legion (doors open at 4:30). Admission is $16/person, with take-outs available by calling 274-3772. Bring a friend!

Atown (Feb 20)

The Fort Frances Curling Club will be hosting an Introduction to Wheelchair Curling, in anticipation of the Northern Ontario Provincial Wheelchair Championships. The event is open to the general public and free of charge. It will take place Friday, Feb. 21 from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Fort Frances Curling Club, 300 Eighth St. E.

Atown (Feb 13)

The Fort Frances Lakers will take on the Red Lake Miners at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14 at the Ice for Kids arena. Admission is $12 for adults; $8 for students; $5 for children 12 and under; free for children under five.

Atown (Feb 6)

The Fort Frances Senior Centre will be holding a special “Introduction to Bridge” learning session on Fridays from 10 a.m. until noon, beginning on Feb. 7. Please pre-register for the sessions by calling Cindy at 274-7656.

Atown (Jan 30)

The Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Br. 29 will be holding their monthly supper upstairs at the Legion on Friday, Jan. 31 at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets for the supper are $16 per plate, and will include roasted centre-cut pork loin, mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy, vegetables, buns, salad and pie for dessert.

Atown (Jan 23)

Seniors Bingo will be returning to the Fort Frances Senior Centre this Friday, Jan. 24. Games will run on Fridays from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. for the next eight weeks.

Atown (Jan 16)

The Rainy River Cattlemen's Association will be holding its annual meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16 at Our Lady of the Way school in Stratton. The agenda will include updates, sales dates for 2020 and bringing members up to speed on the barn construction. Your opinions will be sought and appreciated. The Fort Frances Museum and Cultural Centre will be opening its new exhibit “Canada: Day 1,” which tells the story of immigration to Canada, in early January. The museum will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
