The 18th-annual “Castin' For Cash” bass tournament goes Friday, July 6 and Saturday, July 7 at Lake Despair Lodge (located 18 miles north of Devlin on Highway 613). Weigh-ins start at 4 p.m. both days, with a roast pork supper set for the Friday starting at 5:30 p.m. (cost is $12/person). There also will be food booths and refreshments available both days.

“Mall Days” goes today (June 28) in downtown Fort Frances, including an Early Iron Car Club show, onstage activities, kids' corner, and then an evening vendor market from 5-8 p.m. As well, local country singer Doug Judson will take to the Rainy Lake Square stage from 6-8 p.m.

The annual “Walk for Alzheimer's”—featuring 1K and 2K routes—will be held Saturday, June 16 starting at the Sorting Gap Marina. Registration begins at 10 a.m., with a welcome and warm-up to follow at 11 a.m. A free barbecued lunch will be held afterwards.

The United Native Friendship Centre will hold its annual general meeting today (June 7) at 5 p.m. upstairs at the Royal Canadian Legion. Dinner and refreshments will be provided.

To mark Paramedic Services Week, the Rainy River Association of Professional Paramedics and Rainy River District Paramedic Services will hold free barbecues from 4-8 p.m. today (May 31) at the Emo ambulance base, as well as on Saturday, June 2 from noon-4 p.m. at the Fort Frances ambulance base. There also will be games, prizes, a bake sale, open house, and ambulance tours.

An all-candidates' meeting, hosted by the Rainy River Federation of Agriculture, will be held today (May 24) at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of the Way School in Stratton. Everyone is welcome to attend.

A “Fort Frances Kitchen Party,” a free concert featuring local musical duo Entyrely Mac, will take place today (May 17) from 6-8 p.m. to cap the grand opening of the Rainy Lake Square.

The Rainy River District Social Services Administration Board will hold its annual general meeting on Thursday, May 17 at 6 p.m. at La Place Rendez-Vous. The public is invited to attend.
