compromise. We are currently seeking an exceptional individual for the
following vacancy:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Maintenance Manager is
responsible for the safe and cost effective maintenance of the mill. The
Maintenance Manager utilizes related experience, project management
expertise, leadership abilities and a preventative maintenance mindset.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the management
of a highly qualified maintenance team, maintaining maximum uptime and
open communications with production personnel. Active participation
in the operation’s efforts towards providing a safe working environment
along with continuous innovation and process improvements initiatives.
Specific duties may include:
· Implements, designs, utilizes and enforces proactive safety steps.
Participates in regular safety meetings with the mindset all accidents
are preventable.
· Oversee short and long term project plans for all maintenance
· Source and liaise with outside contractors regarding external
manufacturing of equipment, negotiating price quotes and written
agreements. Involves attaining innovative/efficient equipment within
budgeted allowances.
· Tracks mill downtime issues and builds a corrective action plan to
prevent reoccurrence and or reduce downtime and ensure the mill’s
uptime is at or above target.
· Participates in planning and recommending of capital projects as part of
the site management team.
· Provides input for the creation of the yearly maintenance budget.
· Submit month-end and quarterly reports regarding major down time
events, highlights, and capital project updates.
· Oversee labour requirements for maintenance, provide guidance,
direction, mentoring and progressive discipline (if required) to direct
reports, assist with grievance resolution.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of maintenance
management experience within the forest industry, preferably at an OSB
operation; Journeyman certification- Electrical, Millwright, or HD Tech;
understanding and prior utilization of preventative maintenance tools;
such as lubrication, vibration analysis and thermography; extensive
hydraulic experience, Project Management training; and a background
and or education in engineering. Strong organizational, interpersonal
and communication skills are a must to effectively participate in a team
environment. A commitment to safe work practices, as well as experience
with a computerized maintenance system is essential.
