2001 vs. 2008 survey results

The current BR&E project is a continuation of a study first conducted in 2001 by then BR&E intern Crystal Angus.

A comparative analysis provided in the report released yesterday show that while some things changed quite a bit in seven years, other issues persisted.

In 2001, 54 local businesses were surveyed, compared to 86 this time around.

A summary of the survey results

The 86 businesses interviewed were from five different sectors, including manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, retail/service, and other.

More than 50 percent were incorporated, and more than 50 percent were in the retail industry. Fifty-four of the 86 had less than 10 employees while 87 percent of the owners were involved in the day-to-day operations.

Jr. spikers compete in Dryden

The Muskie junior boys’ volleyball team entered two squads in Dryden’s annual “Pumpkin Smash” tournament over the weekend—and gained invaluable experience moving forward into the last few weeks of their NorWOSSA season.

The rookie squad was in tough right from the get-go, finishing fifth out of the six teams and failing to advance to the playoffs.

Runners gear up for NWOSSAA

The Muskie cross-country team had its final tune-up last Wednesday in preparation for the NWOSSAA final—and the results were quite promising.

The weather didn’t co-operate, as the runners had to deal with a cold wind and rain, but the team had strong showings across the board.
