Due to the increase in COVID cases, it was decided Crossroads and Donald Young Schools would not resume classes on January 11. At this time schools are set to resume January 25. This late opening has effected several schools in the district.

Here’s wishing everyone in the Rainy River District a happy New Year.
Despite growing issues with COVID-19 and all the concern and changes this pandemic has made in our lives may, 2021 bless you with good health, family and all your needs fully met.
Once again the area residents have generously supported another successful Stuff A Cruiser campaign in Emo. Due to COVID, organizers felt the donations might be far less this year. However, monetary contributions and donations on Saturday exceeded 2300 pounds. This will help keep shelves stocked at the Emo Food Bank for those in need.
Another Christmas tradition has been cancelled due to the COVID pandemic.
The Township of LaVallee has made the decision to cancel the annual Community Christmas Party for 2020. The council members send everyone wishes for a safe and happy holiday season.
The annual Emo Holly Daze are cancelled for 2020. As we all know precautions are being taken in every social gathering, and Holly Daze is no exception.
Here’s hoping 2021 will be even bigger and better than previous years, though that’s pretty hard to beat. Hats off to all the volunteers who make this event possible every year (except this one.)
The annual Stuff A Cruiser will take place December 5 at Cloverleaf Groceries in Emo. This is a fundraiser that collects groceries to help people in need.
Volunteers are needed and high school students are welcome (a way to earn needed volunteer hours). Call Charlene at 1 (807) 275-8841 or 486-3455 for more information or to volunteer.
Having one son in active battle during WW2 would have been traumatic enough, but five of Agnes and Fred Crowe’s six sons were all veterans in WW2.
The Remembrance Day services will be different this year due to COVID, but the importance of honouring veterans remains the same.

Barwick Cenotaph at 12:00p.m.
and Stratton Cenotaph at 12:30 p.m.
Sophie Potson Rittau, age 8, along with her parents Tiffany and Jon, set themselves a challenge in August. They embraced the Great Cycle Challenge to raise money for children across Canada that have been diagnosed with cancer.
There goal was to ride 100 kilometres and raise $200.00

Clocks turn back an hour this weekend. Good idea to set them back Saturday before going go to bed.
Crossroads School will hold its next parent council meeting November 19. This will be a virtual meeting.
