Drive safe this weekend

With the long weekend ahead, members of your local OPP detachment are encouraging drivers to stay alert and make wise choices while travelling.

  • Drive safe

Aggressive driving habits such as speeding, following too close, or unsafe passing can lead to tragedy on our highways.

‘Stunt’ driver nabbed

Just after 2 a.m. today, the Rainy River District OPP received a complaint of a possible impaired driver in town.

Officers located the vehicle, travelling at a high rate of speed, on McIrvine Road near Birch Street.

He was arrested and taken to the OPP detachment for breath tests.

Driver facing charges

Rainy River District OPP charged an adult male with impaired driving just after 6 p.m. on Aug. 14.

During routine patrol, officers stopped a 1997 pick-up truck on 800 block of Wright Avenue in Fort Frances after observing a male who was known as being a suspended driver.

As officers were speaking with the driver, it was determined he had been drinking.
