Driver killed in crash

On Dec. 2 around 5:15 p.m., the Manitouwadge/Marathon OPP responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision involving two pickup trucks on Highway 614 about 16 km south of Manitouwadge.

Police and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) attended the scene and determined a northbound Dodge Ram pickup impacted with a southbound Nissan pickup.

R.I.D.E stop nabs pair

On Wednesday around 2:20 p.m., Rainy River District OPP officers were conducting a Festive R.I.D.E. check at the intersection of Highway 600 and 621.

After speaking with the driver of the vehicle, it was determined two occupants had outstanding warrants for arrest.

Town OVR use illegal

The Rainy River District OPP and the Town of Fort Frances’ Bylaw Department wish to advise the public that the operation off-road vehicles is illegal here.

The operation of OVRs is prohibited at all times within the Town of Fort Frances, according to the Bylaw 46/15.

Two drivers nabbed

Two male drivers were charged with impaired driving offences Saturday.

The Rainy River District OPP was advised of a traffic complainant in the west end of Fort Frances on Saturday morning.

Officers located the vehicle on the 900 block of King’s Highway.

Driver charged after accident

The Rainy River District OPP was notified of a single motor-vehicle collision on Highway 71 in Chapple Township on Saturday around 8 a.m.

A 23-year-old Northwest Angle First Nation woman was arrested at the scene and taken to Fort Frances for breath tests.

She was charged with having a blood alcohol level over 80 mg and driving while suspended.

Trio hurt in train collision

At 7:44 a.m. today, the Rainy River District OPP responded to the report of a train/motor vehicle collision on Lauzon Road in the Township of Dawson.

A 2016 Dodge Caravan collided with a Canadian National Railway freight train.

As a result, three occupants of the van were taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The train crew suffered no injuries.

Driver killed

A Greenstone woman is dead following a two-vehicle collision involving an SUV and a tractor-trailer unit on Highway 11 about 65 km east of Longlac.

Highway 11 west of Hearst and east of Longlac was closed for a number of hours, with traffic re-routed via Nipigon at Highway 11/17.

Kenora OPP capture suspect

The Kenora OPP is investigating multiple break-and-enters and mischiefs.

Yesterday around 7 a.m., police were dispatched to several mischiefs to vehicles in the west side of Kenora.

While police were conducting their investigation, there was a report of a break-and-enter in progress at a nearby residence.
