Man charged in spraying

On July 24 around 10:55 p.m., members of the Rainy River District OPP were called to a disturbance at a gas station on King's Highway in Fort Frances.

Officers attended the area immediately and learned the suspect had fled the scene.

Members commenced an investigation and learned that three individuals had been sprayed by the suspect with a noxious substance.

Dispute leads to charges

On Monday around 11:05 a.m., two members of the Rainy River District OPP were on general patrol on Portage Avenue when they observed two individuals involved in a verbal exchange near a business.

The officers approached the two parties to investigate the matter and one of them subsequently was arrested.

Man busted for drunk driving

On Sunday at approximately 2:25 a.m., a member of the Fort Frances Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a vehicle stop on King's Highway in Fort Frances.

The officer spoke with the driver, whom he determined was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the detachment, where he underwent more tests.

Body found

On Friday at 8 a.m., officers from the Rainy River District OPP received a complaint of an abandoned vehicle on Strachan Road, northwest of Emo.

Police attended and searched the area, locating a deceased male within the vicinity of the vehicle.

No foul play is suspected.

The Atikokan OPP has been responding to several calls for service involving mischief and thefts of opportunity from vehicles.

In the majority of instances, vehicles that are left unlocked are targeted and smaller items of value, including change in the cup-holder, is being taken.
